I'm continuing the Labor Day theme throughout the week by showcasing "labor less" dishes. These recipes are super simple, uses six ingredients or less and or are lightning quick. I know I have a winning dish when the two little ones fight over it.
Chocolate Pudding
1 avocado, diced
¼ c raw agave nectar, or more to taste
¼ c cocoa powder
¼ c water
2 t vanilla extract
¼ t sea salt
Place avocado, agave nectar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and sea salt in a blender. Gradually add 1 tablespoon of water at a time to achieve a creamy consistency.
Want another avocado recipe that's "labor less"? Try Avocado slices with lemon.

The two little ones look so sweet and the pudding looks silky and yummy.
My kids loved this!! But I know it is a great recipe when my husband loves it as well.
What happened?? I made it, except with honey instead, and it was disgusting. Maybe my avocado was bad, I don't know. Is is because I used honey?
Just found this and it looks delicious. Can't wait to try making it for my little ones (and me, of course!)
I just made this. A friend sent me your way. YUM! The kids are begging for more. Thanks for posting this recipe.
Just heard about this blog! What a blessing to me & my family at this time! Just made the pudding - very good & SOO creamy & rich. THANK YOU for taking the time to share this!
I was a bit nervous when I first finished blending the ingredients; it tasted quite bitter, but I figured maybe it was because I used carob powder. So, I popped it in the refrigerator, said a prayer and let the flavors "blend" for a few hours... oh wow!! It tastes just like a decadent dark chocolate mousse. Bravo!
AMAZING!! I substituted xylitol and apple sauce for the agave as I am on a candida cleanse right now. Has a slight apple and cinnamon undertone, but it still delicious, creamy, and just a few spoonfuls helps keep my chocolate cravings at bay during the detox. THANK YOU :)
This looks SO good! I'm trying it this weekend! Thanks for the recipe!
Candi,
I changed the recipe a bit. Try the new version and tell me what you think. I just lowered the quanity of raw agave nectar.
Delicious. Substitute coconut milk for the agave nectar and water, for a slight twist.
Delicious! I used maple syrup instead of the agave and it tasted great!
amazing! this was the best way to get my super picky little eater to consume a veggie (fruit). thanks!
So excited to make this tonight!!
Been looking for a chocolate frosting recipe that has minimal amount of calories and I think with a few modifications, this can be a base recipe for that.
I am planning to use applesauce instead of avocado, and stevia in replacement for the agave. I am not a good baker so I am hoping you can suggest proportions and any modifications in ingredients. Great recipes btw!
Terilynn, I had a lone avocado sitting in the fruit bowl that was beginning to lose its firmness. I remembered you had this recipe so I tried. OH My Goodness!! My children loved this! I had to try it even though I don't eat avocado and man it was good. I keep sticking my finger in the blender trying to get the remnants ;-). Thanks!
Latisha,
LOL!
The only thing I recommend is doing some research on Agave. It's really not good - very high fructose corn syrup!
Really! http://www.sugarshockblog.com/2010/03/agave-is-worse-for-you-than-high-fructose-corn-syrup-hfcs-please-stay-away-from-the-stuff.html
Did you ever guess that 4 years later you would still be getting comments on this post? I stumbled across your blog when I was searching for avocado chocolate pudding. Your recipe was both simple and ridiculously delicious. SUCH a keeper!!! Now I want to see if I can tweak it a bit -- see how it fares with less sweetener, maybe I'll try some of the suggestions above. Anyway, THANK YOU! All 4 of my kids LOVED this - and they hardly ever agree on ANYTHING! :-)
